I couldn't possibly pick a favorite YA book, but one of my new favs is Numbers, by Rachel Ward.  It's edgy, dark, and much different from the average run-of-the-mill YA novels.  It was a pleasant surprise because I wasn't sure I'd like it, but I ended up loving it.
